County-USC opens new clinic

A new clinic tower at County-USC Medical Center opened Tuesday in Boyle Heights.
The new $800 million hospital is next door to the old “general hospital,” which has been operating for more than a century and was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
“We’ve planned these moves like a chess game,” said hospital CEO Pete Delgado. “No medical services will be disrupted during the phased moves. Our plan is to have all hospital services, including the operating rooms and the emergency department, ready for service in their new locations October 17th.”
A second move will occur on Oct. 17 and 18 when the women’s and children’s hospital finds a new home at the new clinic facility’s inpatient tower.
