A five-week job readiness skills program sponsored by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and Los Angeles City Colleges (LACC) that offers individuals 16 and older free training, begins Oct. 15 at 3:45 p.m.
The class will be held until 6 p.m., each Monday and Wednesday at 3020 Wilshire Blvd., second floor, and at the end of the course participants will have the opportunity to obtain a skills certificate of completion from LACC and a work readiness certificate from the chamber.
Among the subjects instruction will address are 30 ways to shine as a new employee, meeting customer needs, using effective communication, and mastering interview skills. The goal of the program is to help students obtain employment through improvement of their core competency skills.
People who complete the course will have the basic work readiness skills to apply for a job in any industry.
Space is limited, and interested individuals are encouraged to call the Workforce Readiness Academy program at (323) 953-400 ext. 2236 or 1230 to register. Students can also show up on the first day of class and will be admitted on a space available basis.
