Neo-Nazi Rally

The city approved neo-Nazi rally on City Hall’s south lawn Saturday was met by a contingent of some 500 counter protesters, that included Answer LA, the Black Riders, the New Black Panthers, the National Lawyers Guild, and a host of groups representing the interests of communists, gays, Hispanics, and a consortium of nameless individuals who donned bandanas over their faces. Police in riot gear cleared a wide berth between the protesters and the Detroit-based American Neo-Nazi Party, numbering 25 to 50 members. They choose L.A. to hold the rally because of the city’s large immigrant population, and possibly in observance of Adolph Hitler’s birthday April 20. Because of the  separation, there were only two casualties–two men who were assaulted, possibly because they were mistaken as Nazi sympathizers, and a female protester who was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.
