Big Sunday Weekend sign-up kicks off April 3

Since 1999, Big Sunday Weekend has transformed from a Los Angeles-based project of 300 volunteers into a broad-based community service and community-building initiative engaging tens of thousands of volunteers from all walks of life who come together for diverse projects spanning from California’s Bay Area to San Diego.

Big Sunday is an entirely nondenominational, apolitical nonprofit agency. And, despite its massive size and scope, Big Sunday Weekend projects are run predominantly by volunteers. There is no charge to participate in Big Sunday Weekend, and the event often serves as a kickoff for good works throughout the year.

Big Sunday will unveil its list of community service projects for the nonprofit’s flagship event, Big Sunday Weekend 2013, on April 3.

Volunteers can sign up to take part in more than 100 service projects–school and senior center clean-ups;  beach and community beautification ventures; book, food, clothing and blood drives; art and craft assignments; and much, much more–that span California and beyond on May 3, 4 and 5, 2013.

Starting April 3, visit www.bigsunday.org  to take part in these service projects that help others and build community.

The public is also invited to experience and contribute to featured Big Sunday adventures, including horseback riding; hikes; Everyone Eats, Everyone Wins (clients from area nonprofit organizations will be treated to delicious meals from various local ethnic restaurants), and the Chill Out Express (a fun party bus that will explore the city; the only price of admission is to donate an item from the Big Sunday Community Wish List).

Community service buffs can also host a lemonade stand anywhere in America to help raise funds to fight pediatric cancer; all proceeds raised support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Email nick@bigsunday.org for more details on hosting a lemonade stand or call (323) 549-9944 for info on Big Sunday Weekend 2013.

Volunteer sign-up begins, April 3, 2013, by visiting the website www.bugsunday.org.
