The Crenshaw Legal Clinic will host a clinic on expungement of criminal records tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at their offices located at 7526 South Crenshaw Blvd. in South Los Angeles.

California allows for expungement, or removal from the public record, of misdemeanor or felony offenses for those who have completed probation and are not currently charged with a criminal offense, on probation for a criminal offense or serving a sentence for a criminal offense.

Attendees of the workshop will learn what is an expungement, how to expunge a record, what convictions can be expunged, and if an attorney is needed.  Assistance with completing expungement paperwork will also be provided.

“Expungement, or setting aside a conviction, allows a person to move forward with their life without the baggage of a prior conviction or having to disclose a criminal record,” says civil rights and criminal defense attorney Nana Gyamfi.  “In California, employers and landlords continue to discriminate against ex-offenders.”

The Crenshaw Legal Clinic provides civil and criminal legal services including consultations and comprehensive legal services.  There is a $20 suggested donation. Seating is limited.  For more information, please call (323) 455-1265.
