A Black business: how to find one

The United States Black Chamber of Commerce (USBC) recently launched an app for both Android and iPhone users to help individuals find Black-owned businesses around the nation.

About 35,000 companies have been included in the database in 36 different categories that range from industrial to banking, financial services to retail.

Simply type in your city location and/or the category of business you’re looking for, and the phone number, map, and directions appear.

The USBC Mobile App capitalizes on the fact that African Americans rely on their smart phones more than any other consumer group.

Businesses can get listed in the app for $25 if you are a member of the USBC or one of its 115 affiliated chambers. Those who are not members can purchase a listing for $40. To do so, go to the chamber’s website, www.usblackchamber.org, and click on the join now option. It takes 48 to 72 hours to confirm your inclusion.
