Designed to highlight the many exciting aspects and applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in the Antelope Valley
The Los Angeles County Air Show Thursday announced the 2015 STEM Expo at this year’s air show, March 21-22 at Fox Airfield. The STEM Expo is a dynamic and interactive science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) enrichment exhibit highlighting the numerous applications and opportunities in STEM throughout the Antelope Valley and beyond.
“The 25,000 square foot pavilion will feature aerospace companies, colleges, K-12 STEM programs, live robotics demonstrations and a range of professional aerospace and engineering societies,” said Ben Marchionna, vice president of the Los Angeles County Air Show. “The Expo will entice children of all ages and their parents to enjoy a hands-on educational experience designed to spark the interest of young adults and their involvement with STEM while educating them on the opportunities in the aerospace industry right here in the Antelope Valley.”
The STEM Expo seeks to combine students’ love of games and technology with real world application. Filled with aircraft, space artifacts, robots and so much more, guests can watch live drone demonstrations, talk to actual test pilots and engineers, and even “fly” in an F-16 or F-22 cockpit simulator. Representatives from local aerospace companies, academic institutions and professional societies will be available to help interested attendees understand how they can continue their interest in STEM education, including information on how to join and pursue fun and interesting STEM-related activities long after the show.
