The Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy, designed for teens ages 15 to 18 years who want to develop job interview skills, is accepting registration for its next session.

The academy will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 9; classes will be conducted from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Larry Chimbote Cultural Center, 38550 Sierra Highway, Palmdale.

During the program, academy students will be instructed on how to dress and prepare for a job interview. They will meet employers from local businesses and get involved in role-playing in mock interviews. Participants must attend each session to graduate.

“Participation in a program like this really does speak volumes about the motivation and commitment of any young person entering the job market,” said Trish Jones, Palmdale community programs supervisor.

There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. Interested students may apply online at www.cityofpalmdale.org/youth, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy was created in 2008 to assist youth in preparing for the competitive job market. For more information, call the city of Palmdale human resources department, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (661) 267-5170.
