The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) is encouraging adults to attend its popular Arts and Drafts event on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Guests will be treated to craft beer tastings from some of the region’s finest small breweries including Kinetic, Bravery, Transplants and Lucky Luke. There will be food pairings from the Lemon Leaf Cafe, and attendees will be invited to participate in a demonstration with artist Alex Couwenberg while listening to the latest sounds — on vinyl —spun by DJ Mr. Licorice Pizza.

Couwenberg, a Los Angeles native, was exposed early to many of the visual elements which exemplify Southern California culture. These include the surf and surfboard culture, mid-century design, architecture and furniture, color and graphics, geometric and hard-edge abstraction, all popular artistic expressions throughout the Southern California region. There is a specific love of craft and technique that is part of Couwenberg’s artistic repertoire, specifically the paint, pin striping and finish associated with the hot rod and custom car culture. Couwenberg’s pieces have been exhibited worldwide.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on the rooftop of MOAH. Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased by visiting www.lmpaf.org or by calling (661) 723-6250.
