Next spring, children of all abilities will be able to play at a newly designed space at Carson’s Dolphin Park, 21205 S. Water St., thanks to a grant received from Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC).

“The 1.25 million grant received from them will fill this gap in our park amenities,” said Carson Mayor Albert Robles. “I hope that this project will encourage all children, regardless of their abilities, to spend quality time at this park, as the equipment is designed to unite children of all abilities.”

On July 2, the Carson City Council unanimously approved the design, construction and installation of the playground equipment. The stimulating, ground-level play structures are designed to appeal to a wider range of users who have differing physical, cognitive and social-emotional abilities.

This will be Carson’s  first playground featuring equipment that children with differing disabilities can access.

“The city of Carson honors and respects the Americans with Disabilities Act, as its values align with the city’s long-standing culture of diversity and inclusion and this park equipment is just the latest example,” Robles said.

“We are proud to have partnered with the city on this initiative and for the opportunity to help make this community a more inclusive place to live, work and play,” Stephen Konig, MPC’s director of government and public affairs, west region said.
