Trae Tha Truth has teamed up with a Dallas ice cream shop, Howdy Homemade, to open his own franchise of the brand that will employ people with special needs, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Trae announced on social media that his latest business move will double as a charitable act of kindness that will emphasize the importance of supporting special needs young adults and give them a chance to be active in the workforce.
“God Is Key!!! Im Proud To Announce Me & My Bro ( Rod ) @vortex_surgical Just Franchised To Open Our Own Ice Cream Shop!!,” he wrote in the caption of his post. “This Is Special Because We will Employ Special Needs Young Adults and Give Them A Opportunity To Work And Experience & Have a chance To Be Supported!! We hope to change the way the world looks at everyone. The Mission Is To Inspire And Bless Others With Our Blessings!!!”
Howdy Homemade Ice Cream founder Tom Landis also shares the same passionate mission to mindfully employ adults with autism, Down syndrome and other disabilities.
“That’s what we want: to create more jobs,” he said.
The ice cream shop’s mission reflects the same core values, as its website reads, “Every aspect of Howdy Homemade encompasses the special needs of the huge under-employed segment of our population with one goal: To change the way businesses hire people with special needs.”
Trae’s shop is expected to open in Houston on July 22, the same day as his annual Trae Day event.
In addition to opening his own shop, the Houston activist is also slated to announce the winners of his scholarship program alongside NBA star James Harden.
