The driver in a fatal Pearblossom crash this week has been identified as 19-year-old Miguel Figueroa.
The deadly collision took place at approximately 4:54 a.m. Monday on State Rte. 138, a little west of 126th Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Figueroa was reportedly traveling westbound in a 2007 Chrysler Sebring when, for still unknown reasons, he veered in a southwesterly direction into the path of a 2003 Saturn Ion that was proceeding eastbound on the highway “resulting in a broadside collision,” the CHP report states.
Figueroa was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Saturn, 45-year-old Daniel Menses of Lancaster, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital.
CHP officials say neither alcohol nor drugs is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call CHP Officer J. Gallion at the CHP Antelope Valley area office at (661) 948-8541.
