Day of pride, culture and fun
Torrential showers dashed the hopes that King Fest would be held on the iconic civil rights leader’s birthday in January. But a recent Saturday’s bright sunny sky and warm temperatures made the postponed event a distant memory as hundreds of families came out to celebrate at the Inglewood Unified School District’s Student Artist Gallery and TK-3 Literacy Village.
The day was filled with dance, art, cultural music, book giveaways and community engagement.
Inglewood’s Miracle Theater was transformed into Inglewood Unified School District’s King Fest Student Art Gallery on Saturday, Feb. 18. Hundreds of students’ drawings, collages, and posters depicting the theme “Why The Dream Must Go On” filled the room.
