Rep. Sidney Kamlager-Dove
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) was among the nine-person U.S. presidential delegation that attended the recent inauguration of Bola Tinubu as president of Nigeria.
The delegation to the Nigerian capital of Abuja was led by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia L. Fudge. It also included Marine Corps Gen. Michael Langley, the commander of the U.S. Africa Command.
“My administration has worked to strengthen ties between the United States and Nigeria, and I look forward to continuing this work with President Tinubu to support economic growth, advance security and promote respect for human rights,” President Joe Biden said in a statement.
“As we further deepen our partnership with Nigeria, I look forward to drawing even more on the ideas and energy of this dynamic connection between our countries.”
Tinubu was elected president of Africa’s most populous nation March 1, succeeding fellow All Progressives Congress member Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu was governor of Lagos State from 1999-2007. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Chicago State University in 1979. He has worked for Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, GTE Corp. and Mobil Oil.
