A host of free events scheduled

Summer fun is happening at Palmdale City Library with events and activities for everyone. The free Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing, but readers of all ages still have time to participate before the challenge concludes on July 28.

This year’s theme is “Find Your Voice.” The goal is for participants to read for 10 hours and enter their participation in the Beanstack app. Every participant will receive registration prizes to be picked up at the Library, while supplies last. Those who complete the challenge will be automatically entered into a digital drawing for prizes. Kids ages 6 to 11 will be automatically entered into weekly drawings for DryTown Water Park tickets. Sign up on the Beanstack app at palmdale.beanstack.org/reader365.

The Library will offer a free movie, “Hugo,” on Friday, July 21 from 2 to 4 pm. The family adventure follows an orphaned boy living in a train station in 1930s Paris. Rated PG.

The Library will host Harry Potter’s Birthday Bash on Friday, July 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. Enjoy free Harry Potter goodies while browsing for your next library book, and meet representatives from all four Hogwarts’ houses. Attendees are encouraged to wear muggle or wizard attire. The event will also celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program. Kids, teens, and adults who completed the program will be entered into a raffle to win prizes. Admission is free.

The Palmdale City Library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
