Rapper PNB Rock
It’s been one year since the tragic and senseless death of rapper PNB Rock, as he was shot and bled to death at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles in South Los Angeles.
Rakim Hasheem Allen, his given name, was eating lunch with his then-girlfriend and mother of their child Stephanie Sibounheuang, when they were approached by Freddie Lee Trone and his son, a minor at the time, and were held at gunpoint as they demanded Allen’s jewelry, watch and money in a robbery attempt. Reported getaway driver, Shauntel Trone was waiting outside.
According to reports, Trone and his son demanded that Allen hand over his property. Allen refused and a fight ensued. Allen died in the restaurant before paramedics arrived. He was officially pronounced dead one hour later. The assailants fled the scene only to be caught a few days later and charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. Shauntel was charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact to the killing, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
PnB Rock’s label, Atlantic Records, posted shortly after the news of the tragedy circulated on the internet: “This news is heavy on our hearts, and we are all hurting over this senseless loss. “PnB Rock was more than an artist. To many, Rakim Allen was a great friend. He was also a wonderful father to two beautiful little girls,” the label said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time,” it said.
PNB was best known for his hits like “Selfish,” “Changes,” and others, as he had eight songs on the Billboard Hot 100 between 2016-2019.
