Antelope Valley R&B, soul, and funk music lovers are in for the thrill of a lifetime this coming weekend. Kool & The Gang will be bringing the funk and soul alive with flavor at the AV Fair & Event Center. On Saturday, September 23, will be playing from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Kool & The Gang will be performing on the Palmdale Auto Grandstand. The AV Fair & Event Center is located at 2551 W Avenue H in Lancaster.
Kool & The Gang was developed in 1964, in New Jersey and originally comprised seven friends. Current group members include Robert “Kool” Bell on bass guitar, Dennis “D.T.” Thomas on alto saxophone, George “Funky” Brown on drums, keyboard and percussion, Timothy Horton on drums and percussion, Kevin Bell on lead guitar, Lavell Evans on vocals and percussion, James “J.T Taylor as lead vocalist, Walt Anderson on vocals, Rick Marcel on guitar and backing vocals and finally Shawn McQuiller on vocals and guitar.
The band reached acclaimed fame during the 1980s. Some of their most famous hit albums include; Wild and Peaceful, Ladies Night, Celebrate, and Emergency! Kool & The Gang will be playing classics like “Get Down On It”, “Summer Madness”, “Cherish,” “Celebrate”, and many more. Kool & The Gang’s opening act will be Digital Underground.
