Receive McMurchie Excellence in Safety Award
The City of Palmdale was selected by the Special District Risk Management Authority for the 2023 McMurchie Excellence in Safety Award in the Workers’ Compensation Program – Large Member category. The award was presented on Aug. 30 at the California Special District Association conference in Monterey.
The award demonstrates the commitment by City Council and City leadership to the safety and welfare of all City employees. Palmdale was recognized for having a consistently low rate of accidents, focused development of safety projects, and continued collaborative efforts with leadership to improve overall safety through initiatives, new policies, and programs. City leadership has embraced innovation and the use of technology to streamline efforts to ensure safety continues to be at the center of employee care as Palmdale emerges as one of the fastest-growing cities nationwide.
“This award belongs to our employees who demonstrate workplace safety daily,” said Palmdale Mayor Laura Bettencourt. “Palmdale staff are always looking for innovative ways to promote a safe workplace, and that commitment to safety extends into the community.”
Palmdale competed with many Special Districts throughout California to earn this significant recognition.
