City of Palmdale, Waste Management
The City of Palmdale and Waste Management will host a workshop tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Legacy Commons, 930 East Avenue Q-9.
Participants will learn about the recent solid waste changes required by Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383), what residents must do to comply, and how to prepare for upcoming enforcement. Waste experts will be on hand to answer questions regarding solid waste, organics and recycling. Kitchen counter food pails will be distributed to Palmdale residents who attend.
The California State Legislature passed SB 1383, which requires cities and counties to reduce organic waste disposal by 75% by 2025. The goal of SB 1383 is to reduce organic materials going to landfills, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and slow climate change.
