At Holman United Methodist Church

Holman United Methodist Church is at the forefront of educational opportunities by hosting this year’s Annual Black College Summit. California Community Colleges have partnered with 39 HBCUs (Historical Black Colleges and Universities) with the goal of offering community college and high school students guidance and the opportunity of a lifetime. The Annual Black College Summit is set to take place on Oct. 25 from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. The summit will be held at Holman United Methodist Church, located at 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles.

High school and college students are in luck as the college summit will have a lot of free resources available for attendees. One readily available resource is the opportunity to learn more about HBCUs. Additional resources include the chance to meet with admissions directors, recruiters, and gain acceptance to their dream school on the spot! Application fees for colleges and universities may be waived.

Prospective students currently enrolled in community college should bring at least five official transcripts. Transfer scholarships will be available for students who are transferring to an HBCU partner school. High school juniors and seniors will need five copies of unofficial transcripts and SAT/ACT test scores. Qualified community college students who complete specific academic requirements are guaranteed a transfer to a participating HBCU.

Be advised that not all participating schools will offer on-site admissions and fee waivers. It is also important to note that only select institutions will offer acceptance to high school juniors. Lastly, additional HBCUs will be representing national degree programs that will also be present at the summit.
