Help from Bank of America

The end of September saw a multitude of changes, one being the seasons change from summer to fall and another being the 40 seniors in South Los Angeles reaping the benefits of financial assistance. In late September, 40 seniors in South LA attended a free financial education workshop thanks to both the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC), the National Council on Aging (NCOA), and Bank of America.

Seniors were awarded the opportunity to gain necessary tools in regard to making financial decisions moving forward. Participants gained tips and helpful practices on budgeting their money while living on a fixed income, stretching a budget, and how to avoid scams. One-on-one reviews were available to participants thanks to a group of Bank of America bankers.

"We’re proud to have partnered with the NCOA for more than a decade providing free financial education that is relevant for older adults and help them feel confident in their financial lives. It’s exciting to be able to offer this workshop in South Los Angeles with the WLCAC (Watts Labor Community Action Committee),” said Aja Baker, of Bank of America Los Angeles.

Bank of America provides more than a thousand financial education workshops across greater Los Angeles every year on a variety of topics for people at every stage of their financial lives.
