Arrest in fatal DUI crash

A woman behind the wheel of a car that rear ended a pickup truck in Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for allegedly triggering a crash that killed one man and critically injured another one.

The crash occurred  at 11:57 P.M. on  Oct. 21 at  Sierra Highway and Avenue L-8, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster station.

The woman’s vehicle was going northbound on Sierra Highway when it rear-ended another vehicle, he said.

The two men in the second vehicle were rushed to a hospital, where the passenger died from his injuries and the motorist was listed in critical condition.

The motorist that allegedly triggered the crash was not injured. She was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. It was not immediately known if she was the lone occupant inside her vehicle.

The woman was driving a Chrysler 200, which struck a Toyota Tacoma, according to a source at the scene.
