Woman stuck in South LA
A 43-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run collision, which critically injured a man as the pair crossed a street in South Los Angeles, was identified today.
The crash occurred about 11:35 p.m. Sunday on Vermont Avenue around 94th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The victims were walking in a marked crosswalk westbound 94th Street at Vermont Avenue when they were struck by a silver 2023 Kia Sorento, traveling northbound Vermont Avenue,'' an LAPD statement said.
“The driver failed to stop and render aid after striking the pedestrians and later abandoned the vehicle near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and 90th Street, fleeing on foot to an unknown location,'' the LAPD said.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Maria Munoz was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.
