‘New Year, New Me’
Compton Councilmember Andre Spicer hosted on Jan. 23 a transformative community event, the “New Year, New Me” Expungement and Resource Fair, at the Dollarhide Community Center. The fair aimed to empower Compton residents by providing essential services and support for a fresh start in the new year.
A wide array of services were offered during the event including expungements, legal services (post-conviction relief), family law assistance, tax services, employment support, emergency housing resources, permanent and transitional housing information, job readiness programs, high school diploma assistance, substance abuse services, family reunification support, Medicare enrollment assistance, and more.
As we start the new year, it's heartening to see the community actively participating in the fair to better their lives. The 'New Year, New Me' event is dedicated to providing crucial resources, empowering individuals, and sparking positive transformations,” expressed Compton Councilmember Andre Spicer. “A big thank you to our community partners for their collaborative efforts.”
Notable organizations and institutions collaborated to make this event a success, including Los Angeles Mission, Los Angeles Unified School District, LARRP/DOORS, Shields For Families, Five Keys, Loyola Law School, Pepperdine Legal Aid Clinic, Law Office Of The Public Defender, WellCare Health Plan, AADAP, CHIRP/LA.
