$1 million distributed into community
The City of Lancaster is sharing a great achievement in its ongoing efforts to bolster the local economy through the Shop Local Open Rewards program. In just over a year, the initiative has successfully redistributed $1 million back into the community, demonstrating the powerful impact of shopping locally.
“As we celebrate a milestone achievement of $1 million redistributed back into our local economy, let us reflect on the profound impact of our collective efforts through our Shop Local Open Rewards program. Each purchase made at a Lancaster-owned business is not just a transaction; it's an investment in the heart and soul of our hometown,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Together, we are architects of change, building a future where prosperity thrives within our own community. Let's continue to shop more in Lancaster, not just for goods, but for the promise of a brighter, more prosperous hometown.”
Launched to incentivize consumers to shop at locally-owned businesses, the Shop Local initiative has been instrumental in stimulating economic growth in the city. By encouraging residents to support businesses in Lancaster, the program aims to keep money circulating within the local economy.
The Open Rewards app offers users the opportunity to earn rewards simply by spending at participating Lancaster businesses. Since its inception, the program has seen an impressive impact with over 19,862 transactions recorded and a community of 4,658 registered users.
The City of Lancaster has sponsored more than $200,000 in rewards, empowering residents to make their purchases with added value. These rewards can be applied towards purchases at participating businesses, fostering the cycle of economic benefits within the community.
