How will it affect you?

Palmdale residents are invited to an educational workshop focusing on organics recycling and State Senate Bill 1383 on Saturday, June 1, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Palmdale Oasis Recreation Center, located at 3850 E Ave S.

SB 1383 mandates that all residents, businesses and multifamily complexes separate food and yard waste from their trash and recycle it in a designated organics cart. Throughout the workshop, participants will:

Learn about SB 1383 and its significance in waste reduction efforts.

Interact with city staff and ask questions related to solid waste management.

Gain practical tips for effectively recycling organic materials.

“It’s crucial for our community to understand the importance of organics recycling and the role they play in helping to create a cleaner environment for Palmdale,” stated Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop. “I encourage everyone to attend the SB 1383 workshop and learn more about the regulations.”

All workshop attendees will receive a complimentary kitchen counter food pail they can use to recycle organics at home.

Participants can also enter a giveaway to win a family four-pack of DryTown weekday season passes; this workshop is the final opportunity to enter to win before the workshop series pauses until September. Additional entry opportunities include registering for the workshop (1 entry), attending the workshop in person (5 entries) and completing the Solid Waste Quiz (2 entries). The winner will be announced on social media following the event.

This event is funded in part by a grant from CalRecycle. For more information about the SB 1383 Workshop, visit CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/SolidWaste or contact the Innovation and Environmental division at (661) 267-5300.
